Embarking on a working holiday in New Zealand is a dream for many young adults eager to experience adventure, earn a living, and explore a vibrant, natural playground. From its breathtaking landscapes to its lively cities, New Zealand offers a perfect backdrop for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

For those seeking a stress-free way to navigate this journey, Global Work and Travel presents an ideal solution. With years of experience, they provide young travellers with the support they need to make the most out of their working holiday in New Zealand.

Global Work and Travel offers two tailored packages for those planning a working holiday: Lite and Plus. These packages cater to different levels of travel ambition and budget, ensuring that there’s an option for every type of adventurer.

Lite vs Plus plans

Global Work and Travel offers two tailored NZ packages: Lite and Plus. These packages cater to different levels of travel ambition and budget. The Plus plan is approx. £300 more expensive due to the additional features.

Lite plan

For those keen on a straightforward experience, the Lite package provides essential features such as a guaranteed job match before arrival in New Zealand. This ensures you won’t be left searching for work once you’ve landed, saving time, money, and effort. The Lite option is designed for those who want to secure a job while enjoying the flexibility to explore New Zealand at their own pace.

Plus plan

Alternatively, the Plus package is for those who desire something extra. In addition to a pre-arrival job match, this package offers a second job match in another country, allowing for continued exploration once you’ve wrapped up your time in New Zealand. This option is perfect for globetrotters who aren’t ready to settle in one place and crave the opportunity to work and travel across borders.

Additional perks include visa guidance, extra tours, and an enriching side trip, offering the ultimate travel experience.

If you start with the Lite package, don’t worry; you can upgrade to the Plus plan later. There’s no pressure to choose immediately, allowing for flexibility as your plans evolve.

Requirements

To take part in a working holiday in New Zealand, there are a few basic requirements you must meet:

New Zealand has bilateral agreements with various countries, each offering different visa durations and conditions. Here are some examples:

  • UK: Up to 3 years
  • Canada and the Netherlands: 23 month visa
  • France, Germany, and Japan: 12 month visa
  • Argentina: 12 month visa
  • Austria: 6 month visa
  • Brazil: 12 month visa with a quota of 300 visas per year

For travellers from countries like Brazil and Argentina, quotas may apply, meaning only a limited number of working holiday visas are issued annually. In these cases, early application is essential to secure your place.

Global Work and Travel helps simplify the application process, providing step-by-step visa guidance to ensure your paperwork is in order. Their team also advises on the best way to demonstrate your proof of funds and navigate any specific requirements related to your nationality.

Once you’ve met these criteria and have your visa approved, you’re ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime in New Zealand!

Itinerary

Your Working Holiday in New Zealand is designed to help you secure local, seasonal employment to fund your travels while experiencing a cultural exchange. The goal is to save you time, money, and stress, ensuring you enjoy a seamless adventure without the risk of heading home early. Here’s how the journey unfolds:

Before you leave home

From the moment you sign up, you’ll be assigned a dedicated Trip Coordinator who will guide you through every step of your journey. They’ll assist with the visa process, ensuring the paperwork is completed correctly and approved promptly, so you don’t face any last-minute issues. Your personal Travel Concierge will also help with flights, insurance, and any other add-ons, ensuring your trip is perfectly tailored to your needs.

Most travellers have a job match confirmed before they even leave home. However, if you haven’t secured a position within four days of arriving, Global Work and Travel will extend your accommodation until you do. And if you don’t succeed in your first interview—no worries—they will keep arranging interviews until you land the right job.

Day 1

Once you arrive in Auckland, a private car and driver will be waiting to take you to your accommodation. There’s no need to navigate a new city after a long flight; instead, you can relax and enjoy the ride. Your first four nights are covered at one of the top hostels in the city. Spend your evening meeting other Global Travellers or explore Auckland’s vibrant bars and restaurants, all within walking distance of your accommodation.

Day 2

The second day starts with a virtual ‘Welcome to New Zealand’ orientation, designed to help you settle in. You’ll be provided with all the essential information and resources to ensure your trip goes smoothly.

The orientation covers getting your New Zealand SIM card , setting up your New Zealand bank account and IRD Number (essential for employment in NZ).

Day 3 & 4

While others might still be figuring out the basics, you’ll be out enjoying the included experiences (Plus packages only) in Auckland. These activities give you a fantastic introduction to the city and its surroundings.

After that

Global Work and Travel will stay connected with you throughout your entire stay. Their Auckland office is always available if you need to drop by for advice or just a quick chat. Whether you’re seeking support or just want to catch up over a coffee, their local team is there to help.

Make sure to take advantage of the gWorld app to connect with other Global Travellers in New Zealand. You’ll be able to join meet-ups, stay updated on events, and plan more adventures with your new friends. Additionally, Global’s traveller meet-ups and exclusive Global Getaways provide more opportunities to explore and make lasting memories.

Future opportunities

When your time in New Zealand comes to an end, Global Work and Travel ensures your next adventure is lined up. Whether you want to continue working as part of a second-country job match or switch things up by becoming an Au Pair or Tutor in another destination, Global will assist with visa help and a new virtual orientation.

If you’re interested in a shorter working holiday, you can always opt for Global’s Lite package, which covers the essentials while still offering a fantastic experience.

This itinerary ensures a seamless and enjoyable working holiday in New Zealand, allowing you to focus on adventure and cultural immersion while Global Work and Travel handles the logistics.
