About this trip
This nine-day route takes you from Athens across Greece, Bulgaria and into Romania, tracing ancient sites and shifting borders as you go. You'll start with the Acropolis and Parthenon before heading out to Delphi and the clifftop monasteries of Meteora.
From there the route continues north through Thessaloniki and Sofia, each with its own layered history, before finishing in Bucharest. An optional add-on takes you further into Transylvania, with Bran Castle, Brasov and Peles Castle on offer.
Guided throughout with transport and accommodation arranged, this is a group journey where fellow travellers may join or leave along the way, and standards shift a little as you cross from Greece into Bulgaria and Romania.
