About this trip
Three days out of Mombasa into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, two of Kenya's largest national parks. You cover a good stretch of savannah, forest and rugged volcanic terrain, with a private guide running the game drives.
It is a compact taste of both parks rather than a deep exploration of either, good if your time on the coast is limited but you still want proper safari days.
What you'll do
- Game drives through Tsavo East's red-earth plains
- Track elephants, lions and a wide range of bird species
- Explore Tsavo West's varied terrain, from forest to volcanic rock
- Travel by private vehicle with a dedicated guide throughout
- Short trip covering two large parks, so pace is brisk rather than leisurely
- Private and fully guided, suited to families or those wanting flexibility
- Easy going in terms of physical demands, mostly vehicle-based viewing
Worth it if you want reliable big-five sightings and comfortable lodges in three days from Mombasa. Think twice if you need guaranteed leopard or cheetah spotting—luck matters.
- Elephant herds are virtually guaranteed; multiple reviewers saw large groups daily on red soil plains.
- Guides consistently praised for knowledge and patience; named guides (James, Johnny, Peter) made wildlife spotting seamless.
- Tsavo West's waterfalls, green hills and sunset views genuinely stunning; stark contrast to East's arid red terrain keeps days distinct.
- Zebras and antelopes appear sporadically, not reliably; lions, hippos and big cats depend on guide skill and luck.
