About this trip
This trip pairs Cairo's big three sights with a five-day cruise down the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, tracing Egypt's ancient history from the pyramids to the temples of the south.
You start in Cairo among the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx before heading to Luxor to board your cruise. From there, expert Egyptologists guide you through tombs, temples and riverside towns as you sail towards Aswan.
It's a history-dense trip built around genuine landmarks — Abu Simbel, Karnak, the Valley of the Kings — with the boat itself giving you a slower, more comfortable way to move between them.
What you'll do
- Explore the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx
- Visit the Valley of the Kings
- Cruise the Nile for five days between Luxor and Aswan
- See the Great Temple of Abu Simbel
- Walk through the Karnak Temples
- Guided throughout by expert Egyptologists
- Sightseeing-heavy pace with a lot of ancient history covered day to day
- Suits families and those who prefer a guided, structured way to see Egypt's main sites
Worth it if you want expert Egyptology guides and comprehensive Nile coverage. Think twice if you dislike hidden add-on costs and intense first-day schedules.
- Guides like Ashraf and Abdoul are genuinely excellent archaeologists who stay with groups for multiple days, building real rapport.
- Tips, entrance fees, drinks and optional excursions add up significantly; base price is lowballed with costs revealed on day one.
- First Cairo day is exhausting but worthwhile; tempo slows once on the Nile cruise with genuine downtime.
- Skip summer visits: 43°C heat is punishing at the pyramids with minimal shade; hot air balloon activity cancelled without prior notice.
