About this trip
A private, guided run across northern Morocco and into the Sahara, from Casablanca to Marrakech in five days. You'll take in Rabat, the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen and the old city of Fes before heading south over the Middle Atlas to the desert.
The route covers a lot of ground: cedar forests around Ifrane and Azrou, the Ziz Valley, fossil town Erfoud, and a night camping under the stars near the dunes of Merzouga, complete with a camel ride out to camp.
From there it's on through the Dades valley and Skoura's palm groves, past the film sets of Ouarzazate and the kasbah at Ait Benhaddou, then over the High Atlas to finish in Marrakech. It's a private tour, so pace and stops can flex around your group.
What you'll do
- Wander the blue streets of Chefchaouen
- Explore the medina and historic sites of Fes
- Drive through the Cedar forest and Middle Atlas via Ifrane and Azrou
- Ride a camel into the dunes at Merzouga and camp overnight in the Sahara
- Visit the kasbah at Ait Benhaddou and the film studios of Ouarzazate
- Cross the High Atlas Mountains on the way into Marrakech
- A lot of driving and ground covered in five days, with one night spent camping in the desert
- Private and fully guided, so the itinerary can be adjusted to suit your pace
- Rated easy, suited to families and those who prefer a set guide rather than travelling with a group
Worth it if you want a well-guided, comfortable crash course through Morocco's highlights with genuinely knowledgeable drivers. Think twice if you hate long driving days or want deep time in one place.
- Drivers (Nazih, Hakim, Hamza, Abdul) consistently praised for knowledge, warmth, safety and keeping energy high on long drives.
- Desert camp and camel ride into Merzouga repeatedly highlighted as exceptional; accommodation across riads and hotels genuinely excellent.
- Five days is genuinely too short; multiple travellers wished for more time in Marrakech, Fes and elsewhere—expect rushed city visits.
- Frequent location shifts mean you go from snow to desert in one day; brilliant for variety, exhausting if you prefer slower travel.
