About this trip
Fifteen days covering a good stretch of Costa Rica, from Pacific beach time in Santa Teresa to the canals and rainforest of Tortuguero on the Caribbean side. You're behind the wheel for most of it, giving you control over pace and stops between destinations.
The route mixes coastline with cloud forest and volcano country, so you get a real sense of the country's range rather than just one type of landscape. Tortuguero itself is reached by shared shuttle and boat rather than by road, breaking up the driving.
With free time built in at each stop, you can add optional activities to suit what you're into, whether that's hiking, wildlife spotting or simply more beach time.
