About this trip
Five days across mainland Greece, taking in the country's best-known ancient sites without rushing between them. You'll cover Athens, Nafplion, Olympia, Delphi and Meteora, moving from classical ruins to Byzantine monasteries perched on rock.
It's a straightforward, easy-paced sightseeing route rather than an active adventure — most days centre on a guided visit to a major historical site, with time built in to explore towns like Nafplion at your own pace.
Good fit if you want the highlight reel of ancient Greek history and mythology covered efficiently, with some structure but not every hour mapped out for you.
What you'll do
- See the Acropolis in Athens
- Visit the Meteora monasteries built into the cliffs
- Walk the ancient site of Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games
- Explore the ruins at Delphi
- Wander the harbour town of Nafplion
- Partially guided — some sites are visited independently
- Easy pace, suited to families and those who prefer sightseeing over activity
- Expect a fair amount of coach travel between destinations
Worth it if you want excellent classical Greek sites with knowledgeable guides. Think twice if you need consistent hotel quality or dislike long bus days.
- Guides are genuinely knowledgeable and engaging; several reviewers specifically named standout guides like Stevie and Thomas.
- Paid superior hotel upgrades don't always materialise; reviewer paid extra but received worse accommodation than standard guests.
- Expect 4-6 hours daily bus travel for 3 hours of site time; distances are much longer than many anticipate.
- Popular sites get crowded with multiple tour groups; arriving early helps but queues are common, especially mid-season.
