About this trip
Fifteen days covering Egypt properly, from Cairo's pyramids to a Nile cruise, Red Sea beach time and a night camping in the desert. It's a lot of ground, but the pacing gives you room to take each part in rather than rushing through a checklist.
You start in Cairo and Alexandria for the ancient and Mediterranean sides of the country, then fly south to Aswan to pick up a Nile cruise through Kom Ombo and Edfu to Luxor. From there it's a flight to Sharm El Sheikh for a couple of easy beach days, before heading back to Cairo for a desert safari and overnight camp in Bahariya Oasis.
The trip closes with free time in Cairo, so you can choose between Old Cairo's churches and mosques, the Grand Egyptian Museum, or the bazaars depending on what you're into.
What you'll do
- Explore Saqqara, Memphis and the Pyramids of Giza in a full Cairo day
- Visit Philae Temple and the High Dam in Aswan before boarding your Nile cruise
- Sail past Kom Ombo and Edfu on the way to Luxor's temples and tombs
- Optional early excursion to Abu Simbel
- Relax on the beach in Sharm El Sheikh with optional snorkeling or diving
- Camp overnight in the Bahariya Oasis desert on a 4x4 safari
- Covers a wide sweep of the country, so expect internal flights and changes of base throughout
- Free days at the end are flexible — you choose between Old Cairo, the Grand Egyptian Museum or the bazaars
- Some activities, like Abu Simbel and Red Sea snorkeling or diving, are optional extras
Worth it if you want a well-oiled, guide-led sprint through Egypt's major sites with reliable logistics. Think twice if you need flexibility or prefer a slower pace.
- Guides consistently praised as knowledgeable and engaging, bringing history alive at every site.
- Logistics run tight: transfers, hotels, and tours stayed on schedule throughout the 15 days.
- Train to Aswan included but toilet facilities are filthy and food quality questionable.
- Pace is packed; some felt guides occasionally rushed, though expertise still came through.
