Rome, Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast

Rome → Sorrento 8 days Up to 16

About this trip

Eight days across Rome and Campania, taking in the street life of the capital before moving south to the Amalfi Coast. Expect a fair amount of ground covered, from ancient ruins to seaside towns, with coach travel linking it all.

You'll walk through Pompeii with Vesuvius looming over the Bay of Naples, hike the Path of the Lemons, and take a ferry along the coast. Time is built in for Amalfi town itself, plus Sorrento and Ravello for a slower, sea-view pace.

This is a fully guided group trip at a moderate pace, mixing big historical sights with genuine downtime in some of the coast's best-loved towns.

What you'll do

  • Explore the sights and street life of Rome
  • Walk the ruins of Pompeii below Mount Vesuvius
  • Hike the Path of the Lemons
  • Ferry along the Amalfi Coast and spend time in Amalfi town
  • Base yourself in Sorrento with an optional trip to Capri
  • Take in the sea views of Ravello, with optional visits to its villas and gardens
Good to know
  • A packed itinerary — expect a lot of moving between sights over the week
  • Travel is by coach and ferry, with some optional excursions (Capri, Ravello's villas) at extra cost
  • Moderate pace, including a hike along the Path of the Lemons
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want knowledgeable local guides and a well-paced itinerary with genuine free time. Think twice if you're not a confident walker or need clarity on physical demands beforehand.

  • Tour guides consistently exceptional—Martina, Lisa, Ricardo, Chiara, Manny all earned specific praise for knowledge, warmth, and local insight.
  • Walking pace and stairs not clearly communicated upfront; several guests wished they'd known the physical demands before booking.
  • Rome-to-Naples train car had inadequate luggage space; overhead bins too small for standard suitcases, creating practical friction.
  • Hotel accommodations described as merely adequate; small group sizes (2–9 people) work well but vary trip to trip.
