About this trip
Four countries in thirteen days, starting in Vilnius and finishing in Helsinki, with Latvia and Estonia in between. The Baltics see far fewer visitors than most of Europe, so you get proper access to castles, old towns and countryside without the crowds.
You move steadily north through the region: cobbled streets in Vilnius, Riga's castles and art district, a taste of rural Estonian life, then the medieval core of Tallinn before a ferry crossing into Finland.
This is a fully guided group trip built around culture and place, with adventure elements woven through rather than a hardcore adrenaline focus.
What you'll do
- Wander the cobblestoned old town of Vilnius
- Explore Riga's castles and art nouveau district
- Spend time in rural Estonia away from the cities
- Walk the fortresses and medieval streets of Tallinn
- Cross by ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki
- Covers four countries in 13 days, so expect a fair amount of moving on
- Both private and shared room options are available
- Suited to travellers more interested in history and culture than intense physical activity
Worth it if you value exceptional guides and want a manageable intro to the Baltics. Think twice if you're tall, need spacious transport, or prefer luxury hotels.
- Guides (Natasha, Edvard, Jutta) consistently organised, communicative, attentive to group dynamics and individual needs.
- Itinerary balances cities, countryside, group activities and solo time. Curonian Spit and Nida worth the travel days.
- Minibus transport cramped for tall or long-injury travellers; inadequate ventilation on 5-7 hour days. Check vehicle specs first.
- Hotel quality inconsistent. Riga A1 notably poor; some rooms lack desk, fridge, tea-coffee. Early check-ins help but unreliable.
