About this trip
This is a ten day guided run through Egypt's major historical sites, covering Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Alexandria with internal flights included so you're not losing days to overland travel.
You'll spend time among the pyramids and tombs, then swap coaches for a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, sleeping in your own cabin as the riverbanks and ancient sites slide past.
It's a fully guided, itinerary-dense trip aimed at people who want to actually understand what they're looking at, not just photograph it.
What you'll do
- See the Step Pyramid, Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid at Saqqara and Dahshur
- Visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx
- Explore Luxor's temples and tombs
- Cruise the Nile from Luxor to Aswan in a private cabin
- Spend a full day exploring Greco-Roman ruins in Alexandria
- Itinerary is packed and moves between several cities, so expect early starts and a lot of sightseeing each day
- Internal flights are included, which cuts down travel time between Cairo and the south
- Suits families and groups wanting a structured, guided introduction to Egypt's history rather than a slow-paced trip
Worth it if you're fascinated by ancient Egypt and can handle high-pressure selling. Think twice if you're budget-conscious or dislike haggling.
- Guide Abdoul's archaeological expertise on Day 1 was outstanding, delivering professor-level knowledge of pyramid chronology.
- Constant upselling and pressure tactics throughout: optional tours, factory visits, marketplace haggling, even alleged physical restraint at oils shop.
- Afternoon Cairo-Luxor flight meant rushed temple visits with no justice done; balloon tour cancelled twice with poor advance notice.
- Optional extras grossly overpriced: horse carriage $25/hour, Nubian village $50pp, Abu Simbel drive $954 for nine people.
