Colourful Rajasthan with Himachal

Seventeen days across North India that takes you from Mughal monuments to Himalayan hill stations to the lakes and forts of Rajasthan, with Amritsar's Sikh heritage thrown in for good measure. It is a wide sweep of the country's history and landscape rather than a deep dive into one region.

You will move through Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Pushkar, Amritsar and up into Himachal Pradesh, taking in eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites along the way. Expect a mix of grand architecture, sacred sites and mountain scenery.

This is a private, partially guided trip, so you will have your own vehicle and driver with guided sightseeing at the main stops, and some free time to explore at your own pace.

What you'll do

• See the Taj Mahal at Agra and detour to the Mughal ruins of Fatehpur Sikri
• Explore Old Delhi by rickshaw, taking in Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar
• Tour Jaipur's Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal, then browse the local markets
• Watch the Sound and Light Show at Udaipur's City Palace and take a boat ride on Lake Pichola
• Cross Rohtang Pass, one of the world's highest motorable roads, in Himachal Pradesh
• Visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar and watch the beating retreat ceremony at the India-Pakistan border
