About this trip
Four days, three countries — this is a fast loop through the Western Balkans starting and ending in Tirana, taking in mountain scenery, old Ottoman towns, and a stretch of Adriatic coast.
You move from Albania into Montenegro's Durmitor National Park, across to Sarajevo and Mostar in Bosnia, then back along the coast through Kotor and Budva. It's a lot of ground covered in a short time, so expect plenty of driving between stops.
The pull here is variety — mountains one day, Ottoman old towns the next, medieval coastal walls after that — rather than lingering anywhere for long.
