About this trip
Twelve days across Laos and Cambodia, tracing temples, rivers and royal history from Luang Prabang to Siem Reap.
You start among the golden temples of Luang Prabang, with the Kuang Si Waterfall and the cave shrines at Pak Ou, before heading to Vientiane for its landmarks and the odd, sculpture-filled Buddha Park. The route then crosses into Cambodia, taking in Phnom Penh's Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda before finishing at Siem Reap, where floating villages lead the way to the Angkor temples.
It's an easy-paced, partially guided coach tour, so travel between cities is straightforward and the sightseeing does the heavy lifting.

Worth it if you're flexible on logistics and want iconic sights (Angkor Wat, Luang Prabang) with decent guides. Think twice if you need seamless coordination, value for money, or a genuine group experience.
- Multiple operators per city caused confusion, language barriers, and blamed travellers for no-shows when drivers were late.
- Pre-tour accommodation marked up over 300% (charged $300 for two nights at $40/night hotels); only 4 guided days out of 12.
- Hoi An Express subcontracting led to daily itinerary renegotiations, wrong flight names, corrupted guide assignments, and poor communication.
- Guides and drivers consistently praised as knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful; Luang Prabang waterfall and Angkor Wat genuinely outstanding.
