Best of Cambodia & Vietnam

Bangkok → Hanoi 17 days Up to 16

About this trip

This is a long, ground-covering journey through Vietnam and Cambodia, starting in Bangkok and working through villages, coastline and cities over 17 days with a small group.

You'll head north to Hanoi, spend a night on Ha Long Bay, visit a family in the Mekong Delta and eat your way through the region's street food before crossing into Cambodia to explore Angkor.

It's a trip built around distance and variety rather than lingering in one place, with overnight trains part of the experience.

What you'll do

  • Explore Bangkok's streets and local food scene
  • Spend a night on Ha Long Bay
  • Visit a family in the Mekong Delta
  • Travel overnight by train between destinations
  • Eat your way through Vietnam's banh mi
  • Tour the Angkor temple complex in Cambodia
Good to know
  • Fast-paced trip covering a lot of ground, including overnight train journeys
  • Expect high heat and humidity, especially in summer months — pack layers and sun protection
  • Temple visits require modest dress, so bring clothing covering arms and knees
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value expert local guides and curated cultural experiences. Think twice if you want maximum temple time or mostly included meals.

  • Local guides are genuinely excellent, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond expectations consistently.
  • Mixed group dynamics work well; diverse ages and nationalities blend naturally, many dine together.
  • Some days have excessive spare time; not enough Angkor Wat temples or Halong Bay hours for keen explorers.
  • Most meals not included; budget for additional food costs beyond what's covered in package price.
