About this trip
Seven days round-trip from Sarajevo, covering Bosnia and Herzegovina's mountains, history and everyday culture in one loop. This is a country still shaped by recent upheaval, and much of the appeal here is in the conversations and hospitality along the way as much as the sights.
You'll hike to a remote mountain village, visit a centuries-old dervish monastery cut into a cliff, and spend time in towns most visitors skip entirely. Food is a big part of it too, from home-made pies to local cheeses.
Accommodation is mostly hotels with two nights at a countryside guesthouse in twin-share rooms, and you'll cover ground on foot and by public transport.
