About this trip
Five days across Cambodia's two key cities, moving from the temples of Siem Reap to the history of Phnom Penh. It's a private, guided trip, so the pace is set around you rather than a group.
You start with time to settle into Siem Reap before a day exploring the Angkor Archaeological Park, then head out to Tonle Sap Lake to see the floating village communities that live on it. From there a shuttle bus takes you to Phnom Penh for a full day covering the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and the harder history of Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields.
It's a compact overview rather than a deep dive into either city, well suited to those with limited time who want to see Cambodia's headline sites without the logistics.
What you'll do
- Explore the temples of Angkor Archaeological Park, including Angkor Wat
- Visit Tonle Sap Lake and its floating village communities
- Tour the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh
- Learn Cambodia's recent history at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum
- Pay respects at the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
- Try local dishes such as Amok and Nom Banh Chok

- Includes visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Killing Fields, which cover difficult subject matter
- Involves a shuttle bus transfer between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh on day three
Worth it if you want excellent guides and smooth organisation. Think twice if you need detailed itineraries and festival calendars well in advance.
- Guides Danny and Tony consistently praised for knowledge, hospitality, and 24-hour availability to troubleshoot.
- Itineraries provided only a week before departure; Khmer New Year closures not communicated until arrival.
- Hotels on upgraded package exceed expectations, but occasional booking errors require effort to resolve on-site.
- A couple of drivers ran late; external airline schedule changes caused hiccups beyond operator control.
