Two very different halves of a trip: ancient Sri Lanka first, then a few days winding down in the Maldives. You start inland, working through the cultural core of Sri Lanka before flying out to island time.
Sri Lanka covers ground fast — ancient cities, hill-country tea plantations, and the climb up Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It's a proper look at the country's history and landscape rather than a beach warm-up.
The second half slows right down. Overwater villas, warm shallow water, and long stretches of nothing scheduled beyond snorkelling, diving, or watching the sun go down.
