Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan: signature (4* hotels) low carbon tour by train

Rome → Milan 9 days Up to 8

About this trip

This is a self-guided rail tour through four of Italy's best-known cities: Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan. Everything is arranged for you in advance — train tickets, 4* hotels and a guided sightseeing outing in each stop — but you travel between cities and fill your days independently.

In each destination you get a hand-selected guided tour, with a choice of alternatives so you can steer things toward what actually interests you. You can also ask to extend the trip with extra cities, more nights, or added activities.

The operator offsets the carbon emissions of your trip through certified environmental projects and native tree planting in Italy, so the low-carbon claim is backed by third-party standards rather than left vague.

What you'll do

  • Guided sightseeing in Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan
  • Travel between all four cities by train
  • Choose from alternative sightseeing options in each city
  • Stay in 4* hotels throughout
  • Option to add extra cities, nights or activities on request
Good to know
  • Self-guided — you travel and explore independently between the included guided outings
  • Suits travellers who want structure (hotels, trains, one guided tour per city) but flexibility on the rest of the day
  • Carbon offsetting is included as standard, not an optional extra
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value train convenience and don't mind logistical hiccups. Think twice if you need reliable tour coordination or hotel consistency.

  • Trains ran on time throughout; hotels consistently close to stations made transitions seamless.
  • Tour bookings frequently went wrong: tours cancelled, no-shows, wrong meeting points, group splits without clear handoffs.
  • Hotel reservations changed after booking without proper notification; Venice had no room on arrival; room types (twin vs double) not honoured.
  • Venice accommodation notably dated with poor facilities; Florence room cramped; Milan hotel distant from restaurants and city centre.
