About this trip
This week moves from Sri Lanka's west coast up into tea country and down to the south coast, taking in temples, elephants, waterfalls and whales along the way. It's built around comfort and ease rather than fast-paced ticking off of sights.
You start in Negombo before heading inland to Nuwara Eliya, calling at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Horton Plains en route. From there it's on to Ella for its waterfalls and famous bridge, then south to Mirissa for whale watching, a safari and some beach time.
A licensed English-speaking driver-guide stays with you throughout, and there's a backup vehicle on standby, so the logistics are handled while you focus on the scenery.
What you'll do
- Explore Negombo's canals and beaches on arrival
- Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Horton Plains National Park
- Drive through the tea-covered hills around Nuwara Eliya
- See Ravana Falls and the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella
- Whale watching and a wildlife safari from Mirissa
- Wander Galle Fort and Colombo's streets
- Same driver-guide throughout, with a backup vehicle kept on standby
- Accommodation, daily breakfasts and listed transport are included; other activities are optional and clearly marked
- Sri Lankan food can be spicier and richer than you're used to, so it's worth easing in gradually
Worth it if you want hassle-free cultural immersion with excellent food and a strong guide. Think twice if you need specifics on cost, pace, or group size dynamics.
- Food genuinely exceptional: street snacks to homemade curry, clearly prioritized authentic local eating.
- Guide made the trip; funny, knowledgeable, went extra mile beyond standard tour expectations.
- Well-organized logistics meant stress-free travel; suits families and mixed-age groups equally well.
- Reviews say 'mountain trails' and 'adrenaline' but no detail on fitness level required or daily pace.
