About this trip
A 19-day route across northern and central India that splits its time fairly evenly between temples and tigers. You start in New Delhi, take in the carved temples of Khajuraho, then move through a run of national parks — Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench — before finishing with the Taj Mahal at Agra and a last safari at Ranthambore.
It's a long trip with a lot of ground covered, so expect early starts for game drives and full days of travel between stops. The reward is a genuine mix: proper wildlife time in some of India's best parks alongside its most famous historical sights.
What you'll do
- Explore the carved temples of Khajuraho
- Multiple safaris across Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench National Parks
- See the Taj Mahal at Agra
- Game drives in Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Madhopur
- Begin the journey in New Delhi
- Covers a lot of ground over 19 days — several long overland transfers between parks
- Wildlife sightings in the national parks are never guaranteed
- Involves early morning safari starts on multiple days
Worth it if you're genuinely keen on tigers and temple history. Think twice if you need luxury accommodation or dislike long drives between parks.
- Tiger sightings consistently reliable: multiple parks, multiple days, guides spot things you'd completely miss.
- Guides genuinely brilliant—knowledgeable about wildlife calls, temple carvings, cultural significance, and storytelling.
- Hotels are basic and simple; not fancy, though clean and comfortable enough for the wilderness setting.
- Long drives between parks and sites, but landscapes compensate; cultural stops (Taj, Khajuraho) break up safari rhythm nicely.
