About this trip
Nine days across Panama that take you from capital city to mountain coffee country to Caribbean islands, without trying to cram in more than that arc allows.
You start in Panama City, taking in the canal and the old town of Casco Viejo, before heading up into the highlands around Boquete. From there it's on to Bocas del Toro, where the pace drops and the water turns turquoise.
It's a guided group trip with private rooms throughout, built around a moderate pace — enough movement to see three quite different sides of the country, with room to actually settle into each one.
What you'll do
- See the Panama Canal in operation
- Wander the historic streets of Casco Viejo
- Explore the coffee-growing mountains around Boquete
- Relax on the islands and waters of Bocas del Toro
- You change base a few times, moving between city, mountains and coast
- Private rooms throughout, suited to those who'd rather not share a dorm
- Rated moderate — expect some walking and travel days rather than a pure beach holiday
