About this trip
Twelve days through Bolivia, starting high in La Paz and ending out on the blinding white expanse of the Salar de Uyuni. The route takes you through Andean landscapes and indigenous communities, from Aymara city life to Quechua highland villages.
This is a fully guided group trip built around Bolivia's altitude, culture and scenery rather than fast-paced sightseeing. Expect long views, thin air, and a real sense of how ancient and contemporary Andean life sit side by side.
What you'll do
- Explore La Paz, Bolivia's high-altitude capital at over 3,500 metres
- Learn about Aymara culture and daily life in the city
- Visit Quechua communities in the Andean highlands
- Travel through the Andes mountains en route to Uyuni
- Cross the Salar de Uyuni salt flats
- La Paz and much of the route sit above 3,500 metres, so altitude affects pace
- Fully guided throughout, suited to travellers wanting cultural context rather than independent exploring
- Runs over Christmas and New Year, worth checking exact dates if that matters to your plans
