About this trip
You start in San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis town on the edge of the Atacama, the driest desert on earth, before heading out toward the vast salt flats across the border in southern Bolivia.
This is a self-guided jeep trip, so you're behind the wheel (or navigating) rather than following a guide around, with the landscape doing most of the talking — salt pans, high desert plains and the kind of scale that's hard to picture until you're in it.
It's built as a family-friendly adventure trip, so expect a mix of driving days and time to take in the scenery rather than a packed activity schedule.
