About this trip
This week takes you across the Río de la Plata, the wide river that separates Argentina and Uruguay, to see both countries' distinct characters up close. You start in Buenos Aires, a city of café culture and late-night energy, then cross the water to a slower, quieter Uruguay.
On the Uruguayan side you get an old colonial town and the low-key charm of Montevideo, the capital. It's a contrast worth making: one shore full of metropolitan buzz, the other calmer and more local in feel.
This is a City & Culture trip run at an easy pace, suited to travelling over Christmas and New Year if that's when you're going.
