About this trip
A private 10-day run through China's headline sights, with just your own group, a dedicated guide and driver throughout. The route takes in Beijing, Xi'an, the Guilin countryside and Shanghai, with the itinerary open to adjustment around what you actually want to see.
Days are built around the big draws — the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Terracotta Army — balanced with a slower river cruise through the Guilin countryside and an evening stroll along Shanghai's Bund. Meals are taken a la carte at proper restaurants rather than set banquet stops.
What you'll do
- Walk the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall
- Explore the Forbidden City in Beijing
- See the Terracotta Army in Xi'an
- Cruise the Li River down to Yangshuo through Guilin's karst landscape
- Walk the Bund in Shanghai for the skyline views
- A la carte dining at local restaurants
- Private guide and driver for your group only, so the pace and order of stops can flex around your preferences
- Easy-paced and fully guided, suited to families or groups who want things handled without joining strangers
Worth it if you want seamless logistics and expert guidance. Think twice if you prefer a slower pace or are travelling solo on a budget.
- Guides and driver were genuinely excellent; organisation was tight and responsive to questions throughout.
- Solo traveller surcharge was steep enough to be mentioned as excessive in the original feedback.
- Itinerary moves fast—you see a lot but Xi'an could lose a night, Guilin deserves more time.
- Hotels were genuinely good quality; first-timers found the pace exciting rather than rushed.
