About this trip
Twelve days out of Ulaanbaatar and into the grasslands and mountains of northern and central Mongolia, built around Lake Khuvsgul, Asia's second largest freshwater lake. This is Mongolia away from the city — wide open country, few roads, and long views.
You'll stay with nomadic families along the way, picking up something of how they actually live rather than just passing through. Days mix hiking, horse riding, and time at ancient monasteries, with the pace kept easy so you're not rushing between stops.

- Ride horseback with guidance from local nomads
- Stay with nomadic families and learn about their way of life
- Visit ancient monasteries en route
- Rated easy, so no technical hiking or riding experience is needed
- Fully guided throughout with a small group
- Expect basic, rural accommodation given the nomadic homestays involved
