About this trip
Twelve days through Bulgaria and Romania, taking in the history and architecture of two countries that rarely get equal billing on the same trip. You move between Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, Bucharest and Sibiu, with guided tours doing the explaining and free time built in to wander on your own.
It is a culture-and-cities trip at heart, with monasteries, old towns and a couple of famous castles thrown in alongside traditional meals and some wine tasting.
