About this trip
Eleven days across Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, tracing the Silk Road through cities, mountains and desert. This is Central Asia at its most varied — grand tiled architecture in one city, glacial valleys the next, then flat desert under a burning gas crater.
You'll walk Samarkand's Registan Square, get lost in Khiva's old town, and head into the Pamir foothills before crossing into Turkmenistan's Karakum Desert to see the Darvaza gas crater after dark.
It's a guided small-group trip with private rooms throughout, pitched as easy-paced, so the focus is on seeing and absorbing rather than physical exertion.
