About this trip
Five days covering the essentials of ancient and Islamic Egypt, split between Cairo and Luxor.
In Cairo you take in the pyramids of Giza and Sakkara, the ruins of ancient Memphis, the Egyptian Museum, and the old city with its Citadel and Khan El Khalili bazaar. Then it's on to Luxor for the temple complexes and the tombs across the Nile.
It's fully guided throughout, with a straightforward pace geared toward seeing the major sites rather than lingering.
What you'll do

Cheapest live departure per day, in £, recorded by our tracker since 16 Jul. Never a brochure “was” price.
Worth it if you value knowledgeable guides, reliable drivers, and private tour flexibility. Think twice if you're uncomfortable with aggressive upselling or unpredictable guide quality in Cairo.
- Luxor guides (Mohammed Ali, Ali) consistently praised as exceptionally knowledgeable, accommodating, and genuinely engaging storytellers.
- Cairo guide quality varies wildly; one reviewer paid inflated prices (50€ camel, 55€ fake oils) due to guide's shop commissions and scams.
- Drivers (Hamdy, Mahmoud, Abdulla) arrive punctually, navigate dense traffic safely, provide water and AC, and offer local insights throughout.
- Internal flights (around 200€ USD) and heavy tipping culture are not included in quoted price; sleeper trains mean early/late accommodation changes.
