About this trip
Eight days circling Iceland's Ring Road, taking in the country's big natural landmarks without rushing through them. Glaciers, geysers, volcanoes and waterfalls all feature, plus a chance to whale watch in the north.
You start and end in Reykjavík, with a free night at each end to explore the city on your own terms. In between, the route pushes off the main tourist track and into quieter corners of the country.
A soak in the Nature Baths at Myvatn gives you a proper break from the coach seat partway through.
What you'll do
- Whale watch off Iceland's north coast
- Soak in the Myvatn Nature Baths
- See geysers, volcanoes and waterfalls along the Ring Road
- Visit a glacier
- Free time to explore Reykjavík at the start and end of the trip
- Travel is by coach, so expect a fair amount of time on the road between stops
- Suits families and groups as well as solo travellers
- Reykjavík nights are unguided, giving you space to explore independently
Worth it if you want intense scenery variety and accept guide quality varies wildly. Think twice if you need detailed information or dislike overcrowded tourist spots.
- Itinerary packs genuine diversity: waterfalls, glacier climbs, whale watching, horse farms, ice caves across 6 actual days.
- Guide quality is a lottery. Some deliver excellent knowledge and humour; others are irritable, unclear English, dismissive of questions.
- Ice caves heavily overcrowded; popular stops lack staggered scheduling. Winter bookings get four daylight hours and many closures.
- Accommodation standards inconsistent, especially Arctic Adventures-owned properties. Itinerary changes post-booking happen; fitness levels matter for some activities.
