About this trip
Eight days in Iceland built around one goal: giving you the best possible shot at seeing the Northern Lights, while taking in the country's winter landscapes along the way.
You're based in Iceland for seven nights with breakfast included, and six of those evenings form a proper Northern Lights Academy — talks, films and guided lookouts led by people who know what they're looking for and where. By day, you head out to the countryside, from the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in the west to the Vatnajökull glacier in the southeast.
It's a coach-based group trip, so the days are structured and you're not driving yourself, leaving you free to watch the scenery and save your energy for the night skies.
What you'll do
- Six evenings of Northern Lights Academy — presentations, films and guided lookouts for the Aurora Borealis
- Explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland's west
- Visit the Vatnajökull glacier region in the southeast
- Seven nights' accommodation with breakfast included
- Head away from Reykjavik's city lights to improve your Aurora chances
- Seeing the Northern Lights depends on weather and solar activity — the Academy structure maximises your chances but can't guarantee a sighting
- Coach-based itinerary, so travel between sights is done for you
- A small-group version with a maximum of 16 passengers is also available
Worth it if you want knowledgeable guides and solid hotels in Iceland's key spots. Think twice if you need guaranteed Northern Lights sightings or rely on advertised itinerary details.
- Guides consistently praised as exceptionally knowledgeable about Iceland's history, geology, and culture with genuine passion.
- Advertised as 8 days but delivers only 6 days of actual touring; promised Northern Lights Academy lectures and photography presentations never materialised.
- Weather constantly forces route changes; guides handle this professionally, but aurora sightings aren't guaranteed despite multiple night opportunities.
- Hotels consistently positioned in excellent locations; coach spacious and comfortable for longer travel days across Iceland.
