About this trip
Three days on the road covering Iceland's south coast classics, with your evenings free to watch the sky for the Northern Lights. It's a coach tour with a fixed itinerary, well suited if you'd rather have the driving and logistics handled so you can focus on the views.
You'll cover the Golden Circle first — Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss — then head along the South Coast to the waterfalls, black sand beaches and glacier lagoon that make this stretch of Iceland so photographed. Two nights in a countryside hotel put you in a decent spot for aurora hunting, weather and solar activity permitting.
Group size is capped at 25 and you travel in a full-sized coach, so there's no luggage squeeze even if it's less intimate than a minibus tour.
What you'll do
- Walk through Þingvellir National Park and see Geysir erupt
- Watch Gullfoss waterfall crash into the Hvítá canyon
- Stand at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach's ice-strewn sand
- Get soaked (a bit) behind Seljalandsfoss and see Skógafoss's rainbows
- Walk Reynisfjara's black sand beach and basalt columns
- Visit Friðheimar's geothermal tomato greenhouses
- Northern Lights sightings depend on weather and solar activity — not guaranteed
- Blue Lagoon entry and the blue ice cave experience cost extra and aren't included
- A 5-day version of the same route exists with added Reykjavík nights before and after
Worth it if you want maximum Icelandic sights efficiently packed into three days. Think twice if you need daily housekeeping or prefer unhurried pacing.
- Golden Circle, south coast, glacier lagoon, black sand beach all covered without feeling rushed or boring.
- Guides demonstrate genuine expertise and flexibility—one shifted waterfall timing ahead due to weather changes, which proved brilliant.
- Hotel housekeeping not automatic; you must request fresh towels yourself, which caught at least one experienced traveller off-guard.
- Katla Hotel rooms are noticeably compact, though location and restaurant quality are strong points.
