Stopover Northern to Central Vietnam Itinerary 9 Days/

Hanoi → Da Nang 9 days Up to 16

About this trip

Nine days moving from the mountains of the north down to the coast in central Vietnam, mixing proper trekking with slower, softer days.

You start in the hills around Sapa, walking through terraced valleys and hill tribe villages before heading up to Fansipan's summit by cable car. From there it's on to Halong Bay for a night afloat among the limestone karsts, before the trip winds down in Hoi An.

It's a partially guided trip, so expect a blend of guided activity and time to explore on your own, with a pace that suits families and groups alike.

What you'll do

  • Trek through hill tribe villages in the Sapa region
  • Ride the cable car to Fansipan's summit at 3,143m
  • Cruise Halong Bay with an overnight stay on board
  • Finish the trip in the calm of Hoi An
Good to know
  • Partially guided — expect a mix of led activities and free time
  • Involves genuine hiking, so bring proper footwear
  • Starts active in the north and eases off by the time you reach Hoi An
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want a well-organized, stress-free Vietnam itinerary with reliable guides and hotels. Think twice if you expect every landmark to be authentically remote—the Golden Bridge is touristy.

  • Guides consistently praised as professional, caring, and knowledgeable throughout the 9 days.
  • Hotels exceeded expectations; transport reliable and well-coordinated, making the trip genuinely stress-free.
  • Golden Bridge is an amusement park attraction, not a natural landmark—worth knowing before booking.
  • Upgrade to 4-star accommodation package recommended for the best experience value.
