About this trip
This is a self-guided walking route through the Peaks of the Balkans, a mountain range shared by Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. Over 10 days you cross between all three countries on foot, moving through remote valleys and high passes with little sign of modern life.
It's built for people who want to walk at their own pace and take in proper wilderness, rather than follow a guide's schedule. Expect long days on foot and a real sense of distance from towns and roads.
What you'll do
- Walk mountain trails crossing between Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro
- Cross international borders on foot multiple times over the route
- Pass through remote valleys and high peaks away from towns and roads
- Experience village life in some of the more isolated parts of the Balkans
- Self-guided — you walk the route independently, following your own schedule
- Multiple border crossings mean you'll need to carry the right travel documents
- Remote terrain with limited facilities, so this suits people used to multi-day walking
