About this trip
This tour takes you into Vietnam's northern and northeastern mountains, an area better known for its scenery and ethnic minority communities than its crowds. Expect winding mountain roads, karst peaks and a slower, more rural pace than the coast or the cities.
In Ha Giang you'll see the rock formations of the Dong Van plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark, before heading to the Ban Gioc Waterfall on the border with China. The route ends at Ba Be National Park, where you swap hotel rooms for a homestay and get out on the lake by kayak.
It's a trip built around landscape and photography as much as ticking off sights, with plenty of time on the road between destinations.
