About this trip
This is a self-drive route through Costa Rica's best-known landscapes, from volcano country to cloud forest to a jungle-fringed island, with you behind the wheel and no group to keep pace with.
Over ten days you move through Arenal, Monteverde and Tortuguero, three very different environments that between them cover most of what draws people to this country in the first place.
It's private and self-guided, so the itinerary sets the route but the timing and detours are yours to shape.
What you'll do
- Soak in hot springs with views of Arenal volcano
- Walk the canopy trails of Monteverde's cloud forest
- Reach the secluded jungle of Tortuguero
- Drive yourself between destinations at your own pace
- Self-drive, so you'll want to be comfortable navigating unfamiliar roads
- Private and self-guided — no fixed group or guide setting the pace
- Suits families and those who prefer flexibility over a set schedule
