The Labyrinth of Crete

Heraklion → Krassi 5 days Up to 50

About this trip

Crete's history runs deep, and this five day tour gives you a solid look at it, from Minoan ruins to a former leper colony island, alongside the mountains, gorges and coastline the island is known for.

You will move between sightseeing stops with a partially guided setup, taking in ancient sites, a plateau ringed by mountains, and a boat trip to an island fortress.

What you'll do

  • Explore the Palace of Knossos, legendary home of King Minos
  • Take a boat out to Spinalonga Island and its old fortress
  • See the Lassithi Plateau ringed by mountains
  • Discover Crete's gorges and cave-riddled peaks
  • Pass vineyards and olive groves along the coast
Good to know
  • Partially guided, so expect some independent time alongside guided visits
  • Suits families and those who want a mix of history and landscape rather than a beach-only trip
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you love the tours and guides and can tolerate logistical chaos. Think twice if you need reliable transfers or have mobility issues.

  • Tour guides Maria and Darrel were outstanding: knowledgeable, charming, and genuinely helpful with special needs.
  • Airport and hotel transfers repeatedly failed: people forgotten, dropped mid-road, or left waiting over an hour.
  • Company admin is chaotic. Wrong names on files, promised pickup details never sent, special dietary needs not communicated to hotel despite being noted elsewhere.
  • Hotel Central Heronissos is decent but beds are hard; you'll need to request a topper and walk 15 minutes to tour pickups.
