About this trip
Seven days across Spain, starting in Seville and finishing in Barcelona, tracing the overlap of Roman and Moorish rule and the centuries when Christians, Muslims and Jews lived side by side here.
You move through the old kingdoms of Al-Andalus, the Levant and Aragon, taking in grand palaces, churches, synagogues and mosques along the way, plus some of the art and monuments that have survived from those eras.
It's an easy-paced, partially guided trip, so there's room to explore each stop at your own speed as well as with a guide.
What you'll do
- Start in Seville and finish in Barcelona, crossing the country coast to coast
- Explore sites from the Al-Andalus, Levant and Aragon kingdoms
- Visit palaces built under Moorish and Christian rule
- Step inside churches, synagogues and mosques that mark centuries of coexistence
- See artworks and monuments that have survived from mediaeval Spain
- Easy pace, suited to travellers who want culture without a rush
- Partially guided — some days led, some left free for you to explore
- Works well for families and small groups
Worth it if you get a guide like Carmen or Felipe and accept hotel quality varies. Think twice if you don't speak Spanish and the operator hasn't confirmed bilingual guiding.
- Language barrier is real. One guest missed content due to monolingual guide despite paying for English-speaking option.
- Top guides (Carmen, Felipe, Jaime) go above and beyond—one literally carried luggage on Madrid Metro when bus couldn't reach hotel.
- Hotel quality inconsistent. Smaller towns basic, Barcelona property had no restaurant and poor water pressure in places.
- Significant bus time across the week; luggage damage reported by one traveller, so pack fragile items carefully.
