About this trip
This eight-day route runs from Casablanca across Morocco's imperial cities and down into the Sahara, ending in Marrakech. It's a fully guided group tour, so the driving and logistics are taken care of while you take in a wide sweep of the country.
You move from Rabat's royal sites to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, then into the old medina of Fez before heading south through desert and kasbah country. It's a lot of ground covered, with the Sahara at Merzouga as the midpoint highlight.
Good for anyone who wants a broad first look at Morocco — cities, history and desert — rather than settling into one region.
What you'll do
- Visit the Royal Palace and Hassan Tower in Rabat
- Explore the Roman ruins of Volubilis
- Wander the medieval medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Head into the Merzouga Desert in the Sahara
- Pass through Dades Valley and Ouarzazate
- See the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou en route to Marrakech
- Fast-paced — you change location most days, from Casablanca to Marrakech via the Sahara
- Fully guided throughout, rated an easy level of activity
- Covers a wide range of Morocco in a short time, so it suits a first visit rather than a slow look at one area
Worth it if you want imperial cities, desert drama, and stellar guides like Zouhair or Hicham. Think twice if you need consistent hotel quality, vegetarian options, or speak only Spanish.
- Lead guides—particularly Zouhair and Hicham in Marrakesh—genuinely knowledgeable, proud, and engaging throughout.
- Sahara desert experience and landscape variety consistently highlighted as genuine highlights by nearly every traveller.
- Some local guides (notably Dino in Casablanca) charged separately for included museum entry and pushed tips aggressively.
- Hotel quality inconsistent; one Casablanca property had dirty bedding, broken amenities, poor restaurant hygiene.
