About this trip
Six days across Morocco, from Casablanca to Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara at Merzouga, and on to Marrakech, covering a lot of ground in a private vehicle at your own pace.
You move through the blue-washed lanes of Chefchaouen, the medina of Fes, and the Middle Atlas before reaching the dunes for a night in a desert camp. From there the route runs south through the gorges and kasbahs on the way to Marrakech.
It's a private, partially guided trip, so you get flexibility on timing but still have someone showing you the key sights along the way.
What you'll do
- Wander the blue streets and old medina of Chefchaouen
- Explore the winding lanes of the Fes medina
- Stop at Ifrane and the monkey forest near Azrou en route to the desert
- Camel trek into the Sahara dunes at Merzouga for sunset and a night in a desert camp
- Drive through Todra Gorge and Dades Gorge via Skoura and Ouarzazate
- Visit the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site
- A lot of driving and changing scenery each day, so expect long stretches on the road between stops
- One night is spent in a desert camp near Merzouga rather than a hotel
- Private and partially guided, suited to families or small groups wanting flexibility over a fixed group schedule
Worth it if you want seamless city-to-city coverage with genuinely kind guides and hidden local riads. Think twice if you need detailed logistical transparency—reviews lack specifics on daily schedules, meal costs, or group size expectations.
- Guides Abdul and Rachid consistently praised for being kind, honest, and deeply invested in authentic local experiences.
- Accommodation in hidden local riads and boutique hotels consistently exceeded expectations across multiple independent reviewers.
- Six days covering five cities (Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga, Marrakech) means substantial daily travel; pace not explicitly flagged as gruelling but worth confirming.
- Solo female traveler felt genuinely safe with Abdul; group sizes mentioned as 50+ suggest established operator with solid reputation.
