About this trip
This is a two-week rail journey across some of Central Europe's best-known capital cities, moving between them by train and settling in for one to three nights in each.
Each stop comes with one activity already included in the price — that might be a gondola ride, entry to a major cultural site, or a sunset view from a city vantage point — alongside optional extras if you want to do more.
Free days are built into the schedule too, so there's room to slow down, wander on your own, or just recover between stops.
What you'll do
- Ride the train between major Central European capitals
- Take in an included activity in every city, from gondola rides to cultural sites
- Catch a sunset from a city vantage point
- Explore historic sights, beaches and nightlife at each stop
- Use free days to rest or explore independently
- You change base every one to three nights, so pace is fairly quick
- One activity per city is included; other activities are optional add-ons
- Travel between cities is by train, with some free days for downtime
Worth it if you're comfortable with independence and a sociable group vibe. Think twice if you need constant structured activities or prefer quieter travel companions.
- Tour leaders consistently exceptional: Shannon, Cristina, Tom, Richard all praised for knowledge, friendliness, and 24/7 availability.
- Pre-tour WhatsApp group breaks the ice effectively; hostels solid with included breakfasts; personal travel books help you plan free time.
- Significant free time in each city means you must plan your own activities or risk boredom; group vibe varies by season.
- Peak summer tours skew younger and heavier drinkers; if that's not your scene, be prepared to do your own thing socially.
