Cycle Mexico - The Yucatan Peninsula

Start & end in Cancun 9 days Up to 16

About this trip

Nine days cycling through the Yucatan Peninsula, moving between Mayan ruins, coastal villages and colonial towns at a moderate pace that leaves you time to actually take it in.

You will pedal quiet backroads and coastal stretches, stopping to swim in cenotes and the Caribbean, before finishing with some proper downtime on the beach at Tulum.

A guided group trip with a mix of history, cycling and slower moments, staying in shared or private rooms depending on what you book.

What you'll do

  • Cycle to the ruins at Chichen Itza and Coba
  • Explore colonial Merida on foot and by bike
  • Cross to Isla Mujeres for a change of pace
  • Swim in cenotes along the route
  • Ride coastal roads and through Yucatan villages
  • Finish with beach time in Tulum
Good to know
  • Moderate pace — daily cycling is part of the structure, not optional sightseeing
  • Mix of shared and private room options depending on what you book
  • Includes swimming stops at cenotes and the sea, so bring the right kit
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're reasonably fit, enjoy cycling and cultural immersion, and appreciate knowledgeable guides. Think twice if you need flexibility around airport transfers or prefer helmet provision as standard.

  • Guide Victor or Ruben exceptionally knowledgeable; driver Angel kept logistics seamless throughout.
  • Highlights genuinely distinctive: cenote swimming, Chichén Itzá, Tulum ruins by Caribbean, Rio Lagartos boat trip.
  • Bike helmets not provided despite being advertised as a bike tour; raises safety concerns.
  • Airport transfers inflexible; single scheduled departure may not suit varying flight times.
