Hindu Kush Tour Northern Pakistan 2026 & 2027

This is a 15-day overland journey through northern Pakistan, tracing a route from Islamabad up through the Northwest Frontier to Chitral, over the Shandur Pass to Hunza, and back via the ancient site of Taxila. It's run as a private, fully guided trip, so the pace and detail can flex around you.

The landscapes carry the trip — high mountain passes, remote valleys, and the kind of scenery that made this region famous long before it became complicated to visit. You'll also spend real time with the Kalash people in Chitral, one of the few places in the world where their culture and traditions still hold.

Guides on this route have been working in Pakistan for over a decade and know the region's political sensitivities well. Safety is treated as a genuine priority, not an afterthought, particularly given how outside perceptions of Pakistan often don't match the reality on the ground in the north.

What you'll do

• Drive the Northwest Frontier road from Islamabad to Chitral
• Spend two days with the Kalash people in their home valleys
• Cross the Shandur Pass en route to Hunza
• Take in the mountain scenery around Hunza
• Visit the Buddhist ruins at Taxila on the return leg
