About this trip
Twelve days that split neatly into two very different halves: days spent tracking wildlife across the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, then a switch to Zanzibar for old town streets and beach time.
You camp through the safari section, including a night at the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater where lions, buffalo, and zebra move past close enough to notice. It's a proper hands-in-the-dust way to see the parks, not a distant coach-window version.
The second half slows the pace right down. Stone Town's history and the coastline give you space to recover from early game-drive starts before heading home.
What you'll do
- Game drives through the Serengeti
- Camp overnight on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater
- Watch for lions, buffalo, and zebra near the crater edge
- Explore the historic streets of Stone Town, Zanzibar
- Time on Zanzibar's beaches
- Camping-based safari, so expect basic facilities rather than lodges
- Two distinct halves — wildlife-focused camping followed by beach and history — suits those wanting both in one trip
- Early starts likely during the safari days for game viewing
Worth it if you're genuinely keen on seeing the Big Five in the wild and don't mind basic accommodation. Think twice if you expect Zanzibar to match the safari's brilliance.
- Safari delivers reliably: knowledgeable drivers, Big Five sightings, staff handle three meals daily and tent setup.
- Group dynamic and staff responsiveness stand out; CEOs actively manage individual requests and dietary needs throughout.
- Zanzibar portion disappoints: quieter locations, mediocre accommodation, doesn't justify the 12-day spend versus safari-focused itinerary.
- Trip works best with flexible mindset; operational hiccups exist but don't derail the core African wildlife experience.
