About this trip
This is a 21-day overland journey through southwestern Africa, camping your way from South Africa up toward Victoria Falls. Expect long, changing landscapes — dunes, deltas, bush — seen from the ground rather than rushed through.
Travel is by Lando, the operator's own overland vehicle, with local guides and a Chief Experience Officer running the logistics so you can focus on the scenery and the wildlife.
It's a proper camping trip rather than a lodge-hopping one, with nights under canvas in the wilderness as part of the experience, not just a means to save money.
What you'll do
- Watch sunrise over the dunes of southwestern Africa
- Go on safari drives through wildlife-rich deltas
- See Victoria Falls up close
- Camp overnight in the wilderness
- Travel by overland vehicle with local guides
- This is a camping-based trip — you'll be sleeping in tents in the wilderness on multiple nights
- Moderate pace over 21 days, with long overland drives between highlights
- Travel is in a group overland vehicle, so it suits people happy with a shared, guided rhythm rather than independent movement
Worth it if you want wildlife, varied landscapes, and genuinely excellent guides. Think twice if you need comfort camping or want deeper cultural/historical context.
- Guides Arthur and Leonard were exceptional: attentive, funny, safety-focused, and kept morale high throughout.
- Unexpected abundance of wildlife sightings across dramatically different landscapes made it feel like a trip of a lifetime.
- Camping accommodation was challenging; trip lacked meaningful education on apartheid and African history.
- Group chemistry and accommodation variety were strong; expect to form genuine friendships with fellow travellers.
