Southern Africa Encompassed: Bush Camps & Wildlife Spotting

Start & end in Johannesburg 15 days Up to 22

About this trip

Fifteen days overlanding through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe by truck, with camping as your base throughout. This is a hands-on route into some of the region's wilder corners rather than a polished lodge safari.

You'll walk with a guide through the Okavango Delta, track wildlife on foot in Zimbabwe's Matobo National Park, and spend time in Kruger looking for the big five. There's also a chance to see traditional dancing along the way.

It's a full itinerary covering a lot of ground, built for travellers who want direct contact with the landscape and don't mind roughing it a bit to get there.

What you'll do

  • Watch traditional dancing
  • Explore the Okavango Delta on a guided wildlife walk with bush camping
  • Track wildlife on foot in Zimbabwe's Matobo National Park
  • Look for the big five in South Africa's Kruger National Park
  • Travel overland by truck between three countries
Good to know
  • Camping-based throughout, so expect a no-frills, close-to-nature setup
  • Involves walking safaris and on-foot tracking, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
  • Covers three countries in 15 days, so travel days are part of the deal
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're after serious wildlife and three countries in 15 days. Think twice if you hate long driving days and need creature comforts.

  • CEOs (guides) consistently brilliant—warm, knowledgeable, made logistics seamless across borders.
  • Okavango Delta was a genuine standout; group bonding and local connections surprisingly strong.
  • Significant driving days throughout; one reviewer wished for extra nights rather than covering ground.
  • Camping-based trip demands acceptance of basic conditions; not luxury, but genuine adventure.
