About this trip
Nine days across Bali, taking in volcanoes, temples, reefs and rice fields, with village life alongside the more touristy stretches. It's a trip built around getting out and doing things rather than just lying by a pool.
You'll cycle through Ubud's countryside, climb Mt Batur before dawn, and snorkel the reefs of Bali Barat National Park, alongside quieter stops like the lake temple of Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. Food, culture and a fair bit of physical effort all feature.
What you'll do
- Climb Mt Batur for sunrise over the crater
- Snorkel the reefs of Bali Barat National Park
- Cycle through the rice fields around Ubud
- Visit the lake temple Pura Ulun Danu Bratan
- Eat your way through local Balinese dishes
- Explore small villages away from the tourist strip
- A reasonable level of fitness is needed — cycling, a pre-dawn volcano hike and snorkelling are all included
- The Mt Batur climb starts at 3am, walking over gravel and volcanic rock in the dark, so bring a head torch, warm layers and proper shoes
- Village visits mean covering shoulders and knees, and at hot springs you'll need a t-shirt and shorts over your swimwear
Worth it if you want authentic Bali away from tourist traps with a strong group vibe. Think twice if you prefer a slower pace—days are packed with 3-5 activities.
- Guides like Wayan and Ell genuinely embedded you with locals, culture and countryside rather than standard tourist sites.
- Solo travellers bonded well as a group; the tour leader actively built camaraderie and kept energy high throughout.
- Days are densely packed with 3-5 activities each; relaxation time exists but this isn't a lie-back trip.
- Optional activities like white-water rafting and snorkelling cost extra beyond the main itinerary price.
