About this trip
Fifteen days moving through Rajasthan by train, private vehicle and jeep, from the crowded streets of Delhi to the Mughal monuments of Agra. You'll cover a lot of ground, swapping cities for quiet countryside and desert towns as you go.
Expect palaces built by Maharajahs, forts with centuries of history behind them, and local markets to wander through. There's a tiger safari in Ranthambhore (sightings aren't guaranteed, but the park has plenty of other wildlife), a shared meal with a family in Pushkar, and a night out in the desert, alongside a visit to the Taj Mahal itself.
A local leader travels with you throughout, and the pace reflects the scale of the country you're crossing — this is as much about the journey between places as the places themselves.
What you'll do
- Tiger safari in Ranthambhore National Park
- Share a meal with a family in Pushkar
- Spend a night camping in the desert
- Visit the Taj Mahal in Agra
- Explore Maharajahs' palaces and Rajasthani forts
- Wander local markets across Rajasthan's cities
- Several long travel days, some 6 to 8 hours, as part of covering a large stretch of the country
- Pack light — luggage often needs to be carried up and down stairs yourself
- Temple visits require modest dress: shoulders and knees covered, plus a light scarf for extra coverage
Worth it if you value exceptional guides and genuine local hospitality over cutting-edge luxury. Think twice if you need constant creature comforts or prefer moving slower.
- Tour guides (Abi, Chiime, Abhi, Javed, Mahaveer) consistently made the trip; knowledgeable, attentive to group needs, passionate about sharing culture.
- Heritage palace stays in Bundi and Udaipur genuinely distinct from standard tours; locals unexpectedly helpful with luggage and practicalities.
- Itinerary hits multiple towns and villages across 15 days; expect substantial travel time and early starts between sites.
- Mix of ages welcomed and well-supported; group dynamics and accommodation quality repeatedly praised as seamless and well-organised.
