About this trip
This trip takes you across Kyrgyzstan's mountainous spine, from the north down toward the south, and into the Sary-Chelek nature reserve, a cluster of lakes tucked into forested hills.
Along the way you'll cross the Too Ashu pass, the high road that links north and south Kyrgyzstan, and stop at the Toktogul reservoir, which supplies hydroelectric power to the region and beyond.
It's a slower, restorative kind of trip built around scenery and a change of pace rather than adrenaline, with time to sit by the water and take in the landscape.
